Goldenrod Tea
Goldenrod (not to be confused with goldenseal) has rod-like stems and bright yellow leaves. The above-ground parts of the plant are gathered during flowering season. Commission E tested both European goldenrod (virgaureae) and other forms (herba) , and didn't differentiate between them in its evaluation.
Potential Health Benefits
Goldenrod is a diuretic, flushing out the urinary tract, which makes the herb valuable for helping support urinary tract infection. It's also used to help support kidney and bladder stones.
Scientific Evidence
Commission E found that the herb has mild antispasmotic qualities and can help avoid inflammation of the urinary tract, Its recommendations are drawn from goldenrod's long history of use in German tradition.
How to Use the Herb
The daily dose is 6-12 grams of the dried herb, the equivalent of 2-4 teaspoonfuls. Be sure to take it with lots of water. Goldenrod tea can be made by taking 3-5 grams (1-2 teaspoonfuls) of crushed herb, steeping for 15 minutes in hot water, and drinking it 2 to 4 times per day between-meals.
Traditionally used to help support kidney and bladder stones, urinary tract health concerns, joint pain, high blood sugar levels, respiratory complaints and much more.
