Nutritional yeast is a form of dried, deactivated yeast most known for its cheesy taste. LOOV's light beige, organic, Gluten Free inactive yeast flakes have a great texture and a mild, savory, toasted taste. Organic nutritional yeast flakes are grown and processed from primary yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). Our primary ingredient in the growth medium is organic molasses. The organic yeast is roller dried to form homogeneous flakes and then toasted. Nutritional yeast non-fortified may have slightly less taste and smell than fortified yeast flakes, where vitamins and minerals have been added artificially. Nutritional yeast is low in carbohydrates and fat while still being high in protein and fiber. Nutritional yeast, organic, a.k.a. nooch, increases umami notes in your food. Please store our unfortified nutritional yeast in sealed containers, at an ambient temperature, and in dry and clean conditions. When done so, the expected shelf life is 3 years.
