As in the days of old - we still harvest our ripened cane to the sweetest state of maturity. The cane is then ground and the juice extracted. The sweet juice is then cooked to perfection in open kettles. Add eggs, then the previously sifted dry ingredients, alternately with the Steen's Syrup and water. Beat enough to mix thoroughly (add 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired) and then pour into a well greased 121/2 X 8 X 2-inch pan and bake at 350 F for 40 to 45 minutes.
